About Net:Zed

Net:Zed brings education, industry, and government together around a shared goal: building energy and sustainability literacy, and strengthening career awareness so young people and communities are ready for the opportunities and challenges of Australia’s energy transition.

Net:Zed is an education and engagement initiative designed to turn Australia’s net zero ambitions into practical, place based action for young people, educators, and communities.

Developed and delivered by MCB Business Partners, Net:Zed brings education, industry, and government together around a shared goal: building energy and sustainability literacy, strengthening career awareness, and helping regions prepare for the opportunities and challenges of economic transition.

Origins and Foundations

Net:Zed was established with foundation funding from the Australian Commonwealth Government to help young people and communities understand and engage with Australia’s transition to a net zero economy.

Rather than creating something new from scratch, Net:Zed applies the proven processes, systems, and technology of MCB Business Partners — including place based engagement models, education safe delivery frameworks, partnership governance, and impact measurement — refined through years of education–industry–government collaboration.

This foundation anchors Net:Zed in public purpose and policy alignment, while enabling scalable, practical delivery across diverse regional contexts.

Why Net:Zed Exists

Australia’s transition to a net zero economy is one of the most significant shifts of our time. While policy, infrastructure, and investment are critical, long term success depends on people — particularly young people — understanding what’s changing, why it matters, and how they can participate.

Net:Zed exists to bridge that gap. We translate complex transition agendas into learning experiences that are relevant, locally grounded, and aligned to real pathways in education and work.

What We Do

Net:Zed operates as an activation framework, not a one off program. Through projects delivered in schools and communities, we:

  • Build energy and sustainability literacy through curriculum aligned learning
  • Support teachers and trainers with education safe, compliant resources
  • Enable structured, measurable engagement from industry and government
  • Connect learning to real world careers, regional priorities, and future skills

Projects are designed to be place based — shaped by local context, workforce needs, and community aspirations — while remaining scalable and evidence driven.

Who We Work With

Net:Zed works with:

  • Schools, teachers, and education leaders across public and non government systems
  • Industry and business partners supporting workforce development and transition pathways
  • Government agencies and regional bodies focused on economic transition, skills, and community readiness

Our partnerships are designed to be clear, compliant, and low friction — making it easy for each group to participate meaningfully.

Net:Zed is delivered by a dedicated team and supported by government, industry, and education partners across Australia.

Powered by Education Networks

Net:Zed is powered by Education Networks, the delivery platform developed by MCB Business Partners to support safe, compliant, and effective education–industry–government engagement.

Education Networks underpins the delivery of Net:Zed by providing the systems, processes, and governance required to connect partners, activate projects, and measure outcomes — ensuring education outreach programs are delivered in secure, education safe environments aligned to policy, consent, and reporting requirements.

Our Commitment

At its core, Net:Zed is about people. We are committed to:

  • Including young voices in conversations about their future
  • Supporting educators with high quality, practical resources
  • Helping regions build confidence and capability for transition
  • Delivering programs that are ethical, inclusive, and evidence based

Net:Zed is not about telling young people what the future will be — it’s about helping them see where they fit and how they can shape it.
