The Hunter, NSW, is a Foundation Region where Net:Zed programs and projects are activated, tested, and refined before being scaled to other regions.

The Hunter Region operates as Net:Zed’s primary delivery and learning environment—an always‑on regional context where education, industry, and government collaboration can be designed, trialled, and validated in real schools and communities.

This project underpins Net:Zed’s national activation model, ensuring what is taken to scale has already been proven to work.

Why The Hunter

The Hunter is one of Australia’s most significant energy and industrial regions, with a strong track record in innovation across education, infrastructure, and workforce development.

Its established culture of collaboration between schools, industry, universities, government, and community makes the region uniquely well‑placed to rigorously test and refine education programs that are credible, safe, and ready to scale.

How It Works

Net:Zed uses an always‑on incursion model across the Hunter, enabling continuous delivery, feedback, and refinement in real school settings.

This model allows programs to be co‑designed, tested, and validated with educators and partners—ensuring learning is grounded in real conditions and ready to scale.

The Testing

The Hunter Foundation Region is where Net:Zed rigorously tests the elements that make programs scalable and low‑risk—from learning design and industry engagement to education‑safe delivery, measurement, and regional activation.

Only approaches proven to deliver value, feasibility, and consistency in the Hunter are progressed to other regions.

Over decades, the Hunter has evolved into a well‑connected ecosystem that actively supports collaboration across education, industry, research, and government.

Net:Zed’s Foundation Collaborators in the Hunter embody this culture of partnership. They work alongside schools and communities to prepare the region for its Net Zero future, while also contributing insight, capability, and learnings that support activation in other Australian regions.

Collaboration in the Hunter is not sponsorship‑led—it is built on shared ownership, trust, and long‑term commitment.
